Equity, Diversity and Inclusion Terms of Reference

Our project brings together nearly 100 researchers from 11 universities across Canada, spanning the physical and applied sciences, social sciences, and humanities. To uphold our commitments to equity, diversity, inclusion (EDI) and energy justice, the project leadership chose to collectively create an EDI Terms of Reference (ToR) in the project’s first year.

This paper reflects on that process and was collaboratively created for a large, multi‑institutional and transdisciplinary research team. Drawing on a team autoethnography by 42 CANSTOREnergy researchers, it shares insights from developing and implementing the ToR and offers guidance for other projects seeking to meaningfully embed EDI in their work.
